Cultural Youthquake

CFR
The Council on Foreign Relations has an Op-ed that names the Arab revolution underway in the Mid-east a "youthquake" - and locates the epicenter of this youthquake in the desire among disenfranchised, unemployed Arab youth for economic reforms in a largely economically depressed Middle East.

By analogy, I wish to call for, or rather call attention to, a cultural youthquake in the U.S. that represents a desire among disillusioned youth for reform in our increasingly sub-human sexual culture.
A constellation of epicenters come to mind:

TOC and DP
TOB

RLP
or even

Haste2Chaste
Our Catholic commitment to evangelization - that front-line engagement of faith and culture - must bring to bear the best of our resources in proclaiming the Gospel of Eros; the good news of chastity.

Unfortunately, the deadly mixture of infighting within the Church and pressure to assimilate into the prevailing culture has sapped our passion, confidence and clarity in proclaiming this Gospel.

But the Vine's Sap runs ever-strong, and the Ancient of Days' Gospel is ever-new.

The momentum of this chastity youthquake bears a tinge of John the Baptist's untamed voice and ascetic radicalism; and though elements of the movement need maturing, we ignore it only to our own peril.

Will Durant thought as much: "A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself within."

Do we face high-power youth culture machines like this with equally robust resources?

Pray for and support our local youth and young adult outreaches, too many to be counted; including CYC, YCAF, Novos, and innumerable parish programs and events.

OJT
As our diocese careens into this final season of evangelization, let's hear the heart's cry of our youth and electrify our efforts to tap into this youthquake and r-o-c-k in the USA.

JMJ
Finally, a blessed Feast! Let us honor all Religious throughout the world who have consecrated their lives for the sake of the Kingdom.
